It’s been a while, friends! This blog started a little over a year and a half ago, and while you may have wondered where I went, I have been very much here in this space, just not on the blog as much as I wanted to be! When this blog started, I knew that this would be a space for me to talk about the complexities, challenges, and triumphs of overcoming sexual abuse, but I had no idea what the response would be.
This past year and a half has very much been dedicated to raising awareness and telling my story. One of my biggest accomplishments has been the completion of my memoir manuscript, which is centered around my experience with childhood sexual abuse. It is in its final stages of edits, and I am anticipating sharing a launch date here very soon!
While I’ve been busy writing, my father passed, which led to another chapter closing in my story of how sexual abuse has affected my life. I will go into more detail about that later in another post.
The more we talk about sexual abuse despite shame and fear, the more that we bring awareness and education to prevent it!
From the stories that I have shared here so far, I have to say that I’ve been blown away by people’s support, vulnerable responses, and willingness to dialogue with me on this sensitive subject. Your heartfelt responses encouraged me to continue writing when I wanted to quit.
I am looking forward to sharing more of my story and other people’s stories. I have had wonderful opportunities to collaborate with others in the form of podcasts, events and interviews and I can’t wait to share that here with you.
One thing is clear to me through this journey: the more we talk about sexual abuse despite shame and fear, the more we bring awareness and education to prevent it!
